Equity benchmark indices ended at record highs on Friday, inspite of some volatility post RBI policy announcement.
The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee decides to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent and also keeps the FY24 inflation forecast unchanged at 5.4 per cent. It, however, raised GDP forecast for FY24 to 7 per cent.
Post the announcements, the NSE Nifty 50 zoomed past the 21,000-mark, to hit a high of 21,006. However, some profit-taking thereafter saw the benchmark index erase gains and slip into red to a low of 20,863. The Nifty eventually ended with a decent gain of 68 points at 20,969.
The 30-share benchmark index ended at 69825.6 up by 303.91 points or by 0.44 % and then NSE Nifty was at 20969.4 up by 68.25 points or by 0.33 %.
Sensex touched intraday high of 69893.8 and intraday low of 69506.12 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 21006.1 and intraday low of 20862.7
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1362.90,+2.69%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 839.35,+2.44%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1490.60,+1.67%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1653.10,+1.38%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3634.70,+1.37%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 449.15,-1.95%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1668.60,-1.48%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7306.85,-1.18%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 714.65,-1.00%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 24813.95,-0.73%), among others.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4154 , shares advanced were 1877 while 2107 shares declined and 170 were unchanged.
