Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed flat on Thursday after a highly volatile trading session, as investors remained cautious in the run-up to the US-Russia talks scheduled for August 15.

The 30-share benchmark index ended at 80597.66 up by 57.75 points or by 0.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24631.3 up by 11.95 points or by 0.05 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 80751.18 and intraday low of 80489.86 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24673.65 and intraday low of 24596.9

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 318.35,+1.94%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1447.45,+1.50%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2529.25,+1.16%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3489.10,+0.65%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1991.40,+0.61%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 155.30,-3.03%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1486.30,-1.53%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1302.00,-1.34%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12298.00,-0.80%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1089.35,-0.72%), among others.
