The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for all mandated Rabi crops for the 2026-27 marketing season.

The steepest hike was announced for safflower at Rs 600 per quintal, followed by lentil (Rs 300), rapeseed & mustard (Rs 250), gram (Rs 225), barley (Rs 170), and wheat (Rs 160).

The revised MSPs aim to ensure farmers receive at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production, in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 framework. The move is expected to provide remunerative prices and support crop diversification.
