National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) to enhance technical capabilities in national highway and tunnel infrastructure development.

The agreement, signed in Oslo, aims to bring advanced international expertise in areas such as tunnel engineering, slope stability analysis, infrastructure monitoring, and institutional capacity building.

Under the partnership, NGI will provide consultancy support for tunnel project site characterization, feasibility studies, preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), structural assessments, and safety audits of operational tunnels. The collaboration will also focus on advanced slope stability assessments to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation measures for critical infrastructure projects.
