India's automobile retail sales grew 9.55% year-on-year to a record 25.31 lakh units in May, reflecting strong consumer demand despite fuel-price revisions, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

Total vehicle retail sales stood at 25,31,067 units during the month, compared with 23,10,451 units in May of the previous year.

FADA noted that the performance marked the best-ever May sales for three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and tractors, highlighting robust demand across segments during a period that is typically considered a seasonally weak month for the automobile industry.

The strong growth underscores sustained consumer confidence and healthy demand trends across the automotive sector, with passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, and agricultural machinery contributing significantly to the record monthly sales figures.
