Silver prices rose 0.42 per cent to Rs 2.40 lakh per kg in the futures trade on Tuesday amid a firm global trend.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the white metal for December delivery increased by Rs 1,003, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 2,40,019 per kilogram in a business turnover of 1,708 lots.
Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in silver prices, analysts said.
