The rupee declined 28 paise to close at Rs 94.84 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday, weighed down by heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia and a surge in Brent crude prices towards USD 99 per barrel.

Forex traders said the domestic currency came under pressure following a rise in crude prices amid fresh attacks on Aramco facilities by Yemen's Houthis.

A weak trend in domestic equities, along with escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia, further weighed on the rupee.
