Gold prices edged higher by Rs 309 to Rs 1,52,650 per 10 grams in futures trade on Friday, supported by firm spot demand and fresh position building by market participants.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold contracts for October delivery rose 0.20% to Rs 1,52,650 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 10,209 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in gold futures to the creation of fresh positions by market participants.
