The Ministry of Coal reports a significant 32.53% year-on-year (YoY) growth in coal production from captive and commercial mines, reaching 167.36 million tonnes (MT) as of February 2025, compared to 126.28 MT in the previous year.

Coal dispatch has also surged, totaling 170.66 MT for the financial year, marking a 32.86% YoY increase from 128.45 MT in 2024. This growth ensures a steady coal supply for key sectors like power, steel, and cement.

Additionally, Bhaskarpara Coal Mine, operated by M/s Prakash Industries Limited, commenced production on February 15, 2025, with a Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) of 15 MT.

The Ministry remains committed to a sustainable and efficient coal sector, aligning with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision to drive energy security, economic progress, and national development.
