History of Company

The company history sections lists out major chronological events that happened to the company.
The Company was incorporated as a private limited company under the name Chembond Chemicals Private Limited in 1975 in the State of Maharashtra. Subsequently it was converted into a public limited company under the name Chembond Chemicals Limited on 4/05/1993. CHEMBOND was promoted by Dr. Vinod D. Shah and Mr. C.D.Shah. CHEMBOND started with the manufacture of Metal Pretreatment Chemicals at Todi Industrial Estate in Bombay. Subsequently, a plot of 1800 sq. mtrs. was acquired at MIDC Tarapur Industrial Area where the present factory of the Company was constructed in 1979.

In 1983, CHEMBOND diversified into the manufacture of Cooling Water Treatment Chemicals. In 1992 the Company undertook an expansion of its facilities at Tarapur, doubling the factory premises and substantially increasing the production capacity. This expansion was completed in the third quarter of 1993.

In 1994, CHEMBOND signed a technology transfer agreement with Freiborne Industries, Inc., USA for the manufacture of cold forming lubricants for the wire drawing industry. The Company also added other speciality chemicals to its product line like, anti-corrosive coatings, construction chemicals, maintenance products and water management plants.

A collaboration agreement has been signed with SKW Trostberg, AG, Germany for their range of construction chemicals.

PRODUCTS

CHEMBOND is presently engaged in the manufacture of the following products which find use in the areas mentioned.

a) Metal Pretreatment Chemicals - processes for the preparation of metallic surfaces prior to painting for the improvement of corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. These products are used in automobiles, appliances, bicycles, two and three wheelers, control panels, machinery etc. They are also used by the wire and seamless tube drawing industry as carriers for lubricants.

b) Water Treatment Chemicals - speciality chemicals for the prevention of corrosion, scale, and biological growth in the cooling water systems of refineries, power plants, petrochemical plants, fertilizer plants, steel mills etc.

c) Maintenance Products - special rust preventing compounds, paint removers and rust converters.

d) Lubricants for the wire and seamless tube drawing industry.

e) Construction Chemicals - concrete admixtures, sealants, waterproofing compounds, grouts, etc. for the building and construction industry.

f) Anti-corrosive coatings - special high performance coatings for marine and corrosive environments.

g) Water Management Plants for treatment of industrial water - Demineralized Water Filtration, Reverse Osmosis Plants, etc.

EXPORTS

CHEMBOND has been registered with various agencies to function as manufacturers and merchant exporters.

CHEMBOND was actively exporting Dyestuffs and allied chemicals between 1991 and 1992.

But thereafter a thrust was applied to promoting Chembond's own range of speciality chemicals. The exports of Chembond's products have recorded a decent growth every year.

Products from the Pretreatment chemicals range are exported to the U.S.A and South America. The products from the Water Treatment Chemicals division are exported to Thailand. Chembond's export turnover has increased from US$ 836 in 1990-91 to US$ 71,989 in 1993-94.

All the exports of ths Company are supported by efficient technical services.

New products are also being developed keeping in view the export market for speciality chemicals.

2001

-Takeover of Drewtreat Chemicals Limited and simultaneous Joint Venture with Ashland Inc, USA for Water treatment chemicals

-Chembond buys 55% of Goodlass in Drewtreat.

2002

-The Company inaugerated Children Activity Center - Boisar, Maharashtra. -The Comapany Launched environmental bio-products.

2004

-The Company has recommended dividend of 24% on the equity shares.

2006

-The Company starts a plant at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.

-The Company has appointed Mr. Sharad M Mahadik as an Alternate Director of the Company

-The Company has recommended dividend @ 32.5% (Rupees 3.25 per share) on the equity shares.

2007

-The Company has recommended the dividend of 32.5% (Rupees 3.25 per share) on the equity shares of the Company.

2008

-Chembond starts up new plant in Gujarat.

-The Company approved merger of the Shree Mahalasa Electronics Pvt Ltd and with the Company.

-The Board recommended the dividend of 35% (Rs 3.50 Per Share).

2009

-Chembond confirms acquisition of Protochem Industry.

2010

-Chembond Chemicals Ltd and H2O Innovation, Inc. sign joint venture agreement, create H2O Innovation India Ltd.

-Plant at Sitarganj, Uttrakhand.

-Chembond Chemicals has given the Bonus in the Ratio of 1:1

-The Board has recommended the dividend of Rs. 1.75 per share.

2011

-The Company has recommended the dividend of Rs. 2.15 per Share.

-H2O Innovation India Limited Opens manufacturing plant.

2012

-The Company appointed Mr. Sameer V. Shah as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Company.

-The Company appointed Mr. Nirmal V. Shah as the Vice - Chairman and Managing Director of the Company.

-The Company recommended Dividend of Rs. 2.35 per equity share of Rs. 10/- each.

2014

-Mr. Varadvinayak Vijay Khambete has been appointed as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of the Company.

-Board has recommended a dividend of Rs.3/- per equity share of Rs. 10/- each.

2016

-Company has signed a JV agreement with I-Chem Solution Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, operating in the water treatment solutions business.

2020

-"Chembond Water Technologies Limited receives 2020 Indian Water Chemicals Company of the Year Award from Frost & Sullivan.".

2023

-Hon'ble National Company Law Tribunal, Mumbai Bench has sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of Chembond Polymers and Materials Limited (Transferor Company) into Chembond Material Technologies Private Limited (Transferee Company) and their respective shareholders pursuant to the provisions of Sections 230 to 232 and other applicable provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 and the rules made thereunder (\the scheme\) vide their order dated 11th September 2023 with an appointed date of 1st April 2022. \r\n\r\nIn this regard and both companies have filed form No INC-28 with Registrar of Companies

2025

-Company name has changed to Chembond Material Technologies Ltd. from Chembond Chemicals Ltd..
