The exact date of incorporation is not vailable. However we can construe that the company was incorporated in the early 1960s from the fact that the company held its 31st Annual General Meeting in September 1993.
Promoters:
The company is managed by Mr S K Bangur as the Chairman and Managing Director.Mr AK Rungta,Mr A K Sureka, Mr D D Kothari, Mr V B Chaturvedi and Mr Prabir Chakravarti are other directors. There are also three other nominee directors of the financial institutions. A special director of the B I F R is also on the board of directors.
Activities:
The activities of the company mainly revolves around the manufacturing of Caustic Soda, Chlorine,Hydrochloric Acid,Sodium Hydrosulphite, Sulphur Di Oxide and Sulphuric Acid.

The details of the events during the period 1960s to 1991 are not
available.
During the ensuing period the company continued to incur losses and reported sick. A reference was made to the B.I.F.R. during the early 1990s which later sanctioned an amended scheme of rehabilitation cum expansion scheme vide its order dated 09.09.1992. However the scheme could not be sanctioned due to unavoidable circumstances. A revised scheme has been submitted to the operating agency I.D.B.I vide the B.I.F.R.order dated 10.06.1993 which is still under consideration by the operating agency.
The Sodium Hydrosulphite plant could not be run because of uneconomical market conditions. The position of this plant's machines and stores is yet to be ascertained.
The Labour Agreement has lapsed on 31.12.1992.and a fresh agreement with the staff is under negotiation.
