1972 - The company was incorporated on 20th December, at Madras. The company was promoted as a joint sector company by Tamil Nadu Industrial Development corporation Ltd. (TIDCO) and as individual promoter with his associates. - A fresh promotional agreement was entered into TIDCO and HINDALCO. - The company entered into a technical collaboration agreement with Buss Ltd. for basic enginering drawings and permission to operate fluidised bed aluminium fluoride process. - With the technology from Buss of Switzerland, Tanfac has been able to produce aluminium flouride of international quality. The Company has been meeting fully the needs of aluminium producers in India and also developing a lucrative trade in exports. - Tanfac has also been able to diversity the product lines for turning out Sulphuric acid, anhydrous hydrofluoric acid and potassium fluoride. These chemicals have wide industrial applications. 1989 - The unit developed a new process for the manufacture of Sodium fluoride. - Commencement of Specialty Fluoride plant with various Inorganic Fluorine chemicals. 1992 - Commencement of Sulphuric Acid Unit II in December. 1994 - First Fluorine Chemical Company in India and Fifth in the world to get ISO 9002 certification 1996 - First Fluorine Chemical Manufacturing Company in India to achieve ISO 14001. 1997 - The Company has received Tamilnadu Government Safety Award for Reduction of Accidents. - Capacity of Aluminium Fluoride and Hydrofluoric Acid increased 1999 - The Company has received the Award TPM for manufacturing excellence. - The Company has received "Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award" for Quality & Safety - The Company has received "Golden Peacock National Quality Award" for Quality & Safety 2000 - The Company has received "The Chairman's Silver Award"for People development & Manufacturing Excellence. - The Company has received Jury Award "3rd Aditya Vikram Birla Awards" for People Development 2001 - Commissioning of Organic Fluorine chemical plant. 2002 - The Company has received the Award TPM for consistency - The Company has received "The Chairman's Silver Award"for People development & Manufacturing Excellence. 2003 - New R&D is setup for developing Specialty Organic and Inorganic Fluorides. - Commissioning of additional production facility for Specialty Inorganic Fluorides. - Commissioning of production facility for Fluorine based phase transfer catalyst. 2012 - Received consistent safety awards from the Government for the standards and practices maintained - Largest producers of Anhydrous Hydrofluoric Acid and Aluminium Fluoride in India. - Received an A1+ credit rating by Investor guidance body ICRA .

-Tanfac Announces Commissioning of its New HF  Plant at its Cuddalore site and with this brownfield expansion TANFAC's HF capacity will go up from 14,850 TPA to 29,700 TPA (45 TPD to 90 TPD)
