Alfa Transformers Limited (ATL) was originally incorporated as Alfa Transformers Private Limited on 28th December, 1982. The company was subsequently converted into a Public Limited Company; the name of the company was changed to Alfa Transformers limited and a fresh Certificate of Incorporation was obtained on 3rd November, 1992. The Company was not engaged in any activity till the end of 1987. The Company started this commercial production from January, 1988 with its plant located at Mancheshwar Industrial Estate, Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. The company is in the business of manufacturing power transformers up to 1.60 MVA/33 KV rating and its present installed capacity is 200 MVA per annum. It is at present catering to the requirements of the different State Electricity Boards, Government undertakings as well as companies in the private sector. Some of the existing customers of the Company are M. P. State Electricity Board, Bhopal, Maharashtra State Electricity Board, Bombay, Punjab State Electricity Board, Patiala, Bihar State Electricity Board, Patna, Electricity Department, Government of Manipur, Imphal, Jagannath Collieries, Talcher and NEEPCO Ltd, Tinsukia, Assam. Some of the customers of the Company in Orissa are Industrial infrastructure Development Corporation, Bhubaneshwar, Mahanadi Coal fields Ltd., Gopalpur Port Project, Bhubaneshwar Development Authority Orissa Bridge Construction Corporation and Bharat Coking Coal Ltd.

The Company has now decided to take up an expansion programme to manufacture power transformers up to 10 MVA in the same class resulting in an increase in installed capacity up to 1000 MVA per annum. The Company also proposes to take up repair and maintenance job in the above class of transformers.

2007

Alfa Transformers Ltd has signed a Technology Transfer agreement with M/s. Hitachi Metals India to manufacture, use and sell Amorphous Metal core to be used in energy efficient Transformers.

2008

-Alfa Transformers has acquired "PHOENIX SURGICARE PVT LTD" as its wholly owned Subsidiary Company by acquiring its 100% equity shares.

2010

-Alfa Transformers Recommended dividend @ Re. 1 per equity share i.e. (10%)

2014

- The Board of Directors agreed on the proposal to transfer the assets of factory unit at plot No: 1046, 1047&1048 GIDC Estate Waghodia, Vadodara, and Gujarat - 391760 to, a wholly owned subsidiary company of Alfa Transformers Ltd for better management & operation.

2024

-The Company has received a purchase order worth of Rs. 1.09 crore from Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited
