History of Company

The company history sections lists out major chronological events that happened to the company.
The Company incorporated on 22nd June, 1967, was originally promoted by Late Shri Shantilal M. Choudhari under the name of Choudhari Metal Industries Pvt Ltd. The Company's name was changed to CMI Pvt Ltd. with effect from November 7, 1985. The Company was subsequently converted into a Deemed Public Company on June 15, 1988 and subsequently the Company passed the special resolutions at the Extra Ordinary General Meeting held 10th April, 1992, for deleting the restrictive clauses of section 3(1)(iii) of the Act. As such, the Company became a Public Limited Company within the meaning of Section 3(1)(iv) of the Act.

The Company commenced business in 1969 as a copper trading company and in early seventies started wire drawing of non-ferrous metals especially copper. In 1980, CMI diversified its activities by setting up facilities for the manufacture of Dry Core Telecommunication Cables. The Company over the period shifted emphasis from copper trading to cable manufacture where value addition was higher. With the aid of its in-house research and development, the company started the manufacture of Fire Resistant Low Smoke Cables, Instrumentation cables, Control cables and in 1990, commenced the production of JFTC. Over the span of 25 years, CMI has supplied its product(s) to reputed Private and Public Sector Organisations like Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd., State Electricity Boards, Engineers India Ltd., TISCO, Indian Railways, TELCO Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., L & T, Reliance, Gujarat State Fertilisers Corpn. etc. JFTC has been supplied to Indian Railways, Gas Authority of India Ltd., TELCO, Tata Telecom and other reputed companies.

2002

-CMI Ltd has informed that Mr H V Navani and MR Basant Fulchand have resigned from Directorship. Further, Shri H V Navani also resigned from the post of Chairman & Managing Director.The Company further informed that Mr Amit Jain and Mr Rajiv Jain have joined the Board of Directors as Additional Directors. Mr Amit Jain was also appointed as a Whole-time Director w e f June 01, 2002.

2011

-The company appointed Mr. V. K Gupta as Whole Time Director.

2014

-The Company has received order for supply of 6 Quad 0.9mm dia cable and further order for unscreened Power Cable 2Cx25 Sq. mm. In total the company bagged order worth Rs 1038cr.

2015

-CMI L Received Order from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited -CMI receives worth Rs 24.64 cr supply order from BPCL -CMI L Commencement of New Manufacturing Unit -Cable manufacturer CMI acquires General Cable Energy India

2016

- gets Indian Railways approval to Supply Hard Drawn Grooved Contract Wire & Catenery Wire.

2017

-CMI develops a pioneering new product: The 11 kV HT Insulated ACSR Rabbit Conductor.
