History of Company

The Company was incorporated as "Ortel Communications Limited", a public limited company under the Companies Act, 1956 on June 2, 1995. It received the certificate for commencement of business on July 19, 1995. The Company was incorporated in order to undertake the business of operating satellite television network, cable television network, telephone, telegraph, cableronic mail, telenewspaper, conferencing, video conferencing, mobile text, mobile videotext, radio paging and any other system of communication. Major Events and Milestones 1995 - Incorporation of the Company - Started our cable business in Odisha 1998 - One of the first private sector companies in India to obtain ISP license and start its high speed internet services 1999 - Investment of Rs.85 million by South Asia Regional Fund which is managed by a Mauritian subsidiary of Commonwealth Development Corporation, United Kingdom 2000 - Operations expanded to other parts of Odisha 2004 - ISO 9001 : 2000 certified 2005 - Crossed 100,000 RGUs 2006 - Legal right of way granted outside Odisha in Chattisgarh 2007 - Legal right of way granted outside Odisha in West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh(Commencement of provision of digital services 2008 - Investment of Rs.600 million by NSR - Crossed 200,000 RGUs - Services launched outside Odisha, in the states of West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Chattisgarh 2009 - Crossed 300,000 RGUs 2010 - Best Small and Medium Enterprise by Orissa Computer and Application Centre, Government of Odisha - Pilot project of internet telephony successfully launched 2011 - Crossed 400,000 RGUs 2014 - Crossed 500,000 RGUs Awards and Accreditations 2010 - Best Small and Medium Enterprise by Orissa Computer and Application Centre, Government of Odisha Accreditations Certifying Authority 1.Bureau Veritas Certification (India) Private Limited - ISO 9001: 2008--IND13.5741U 2.Quality of service auditing division of Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited - Digital SMS-200901 Facility -Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur -Digital Encryption and Subscriber Management System Validity -August 18, 2016 2016 - Ortel Introduces Wi-Fi Public Hot Spot Broadband Services. 2017 -ORTEL RELAUNCHES BROADBAND PLANS (Introduces Unlimited Plan at Rs. 99/- per month, Withdraws all plans below 2 Mbps -Ortel Communications launched its One Terabyte (1024 GB) data plan on the DOCSIS 3.0 platform at a mega speed of 100 Mbps.
